In an economy with about 40 million youths roaming the streets in search of elusive jobs, a governorship candidate in Katsina State, (names withheld by us) has lost a whooping N500 million campaign fund to one of his aides.

Saturday Sun gathered that the candidate who until last December was a prominent leader of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the state is currently vying for the governorship seat on the platform of the newly registered political parties.

Trouble began for the politician who represented a Katsina senatorial district in the upper chamber of the National Assembly between 2007 and 2011, when he alerted his account officer at a branch of a new generation bank located along Gana street, Maitaima area of Abuja that some huge transfer will hit his account.

Nigerian Bloggers Gross Disrespect For The Dead

I was shocked, appalled and irritated by the total lack of respect for the dead by our so called bloggers whom have sold their souls because of money and traffic. Immediately after the robbery at Lekki took place, images of the dead victims were already being uploaded on the blogs without considering the fact that family members may have not been notified and some of them may stumble upon images of dead relatives online. Blogging have also degenerated into uploading images of road traffic accidents victims. Dear blogger, warnings of "Graphic Images" and "Viewer Discretion" is not sufficient. DO NOT POST such images as such postings equates you to the likes of Boko Haram and ISIS. Imagine how gruesome it will be if CNN decides to post all graphic images captured during coverage of conflict zones.
Before uploading a picture, think about how you will feel if images of your dead family members are uploaded online for the world to see. Also ask yourself if that's how you want a loved one to be remembered.

Boko Haram Isis Deal - Shekau No Longer In Charge?

Boko Haram, as they are known, seem to have had a long disagreement within the Jihadi movements in Africa about Abubakar Shekau’s depth of knowledge. Many of the Jihadis, especially students of late Mohammed Yusuf, Shekau’s precursor, were reported to have opted out of the movement on account of his hastiness. Some of these erstwhile members of the sect are reported to be currently fighting alongside with the Islamic State (IS) in Libya, or in other turfs — in their new obsession of dying as martyrs instead of co-existing in a multicultural society.
Boko Haram’s widely reported allegiance (or Bay’ah) to the Islamic State is said to be the result of a long drawn deliberation within and outside the group on its ideology. “The sect has expressed support to IS in the past but not Bay’ah in this formal sense, as Islam prescribed,” says a source with links to the insurgents in Nigeria. According to this insurgent, it is not a question of IS accepting their overtures or not “as long as Muslims pledged allegiance to a leader, he must accept it. In fact, it was long overdue.” What this also means is Abubakar Bagdadi will henceforth take decision for the insurgents. “Shekau’s self-governance has ended on Saturday, the 7th of March 2015,” said the insurgent.

Morocco Says FG Lied Against Leader, Recalls Ambassador From Nigeria

Diplomatic relationship between Nigeria and Morocco worsened Tuesday as the North African country announced the immediate recall of its ambassador from Abuja, following a statement by the Nigerian government that the Moroccan monarch did not snub President Goodluck Jonathan as widely reported last week.
King Mohammed VI turned down a request by Mr. Jonathan for a telephone conversation and possibly, an invitation to Nigeria, describing the move as “inappropriate”.
The Moroccan Foreign Ministry said the request was a devious move by Mr. Jonathan to curry electoral favour than a genuine diplomatic move.
“The request by Nigerian authorities for a phone conversation between HM King Mohammed VI and Nigerian President was refused by the Monarch who deemed it inappropriate on grounds of the upcoming elections in Nigeria,” the statement, issued last week, read.

Chelsea Crashes Out of Champions League

Chelsea crashed out of the Champions League on a stormy night at Stamford Bridge as Paris St-Germain reached the last eight on away goals after extra time.
PSG came from behind twice to take revenge for last season's quarter-final exit at the hands of Chelsea - showing great character to play for the last hour of normal time and the added 30 minutes without talisman Zlatan Ibrahimovic after he had been sent off for a foul on Oscar.
In an ugly eyesore of a match punctuated by fouls and contentious incidents, Gary Cahill's late goal looked to be sending Chelsea through until their former defender David Luiz thumped home a header to send this last-16 tie into extra time.

Court Sentences Former Ivory Coast First Lady to 20 Years In Prison

A court in Ivory Coast on Tuesday sentenced former first lady Simone Gbagbo to a 20-year prison term on charges of “undermining state security” during post-election violence in 2010-2011 that left nearly 3,000 dead. The wife of former Ivorian president Laurent Gbagbo was also accused of “disturbing public order” and “organising armed gangs” after her husband and his supporters rejected results of the December 2010 presidential elections showing rival Alassane Ouattara had won the contest.
simeone-gbagboThe court “unanimously” condemned her to 20 years in jail, court president Tahirou Dembele said in a statement Tuesday. Gbagbo’s face hardened as the verdict was read. She was “a little affected” by the sentence, her lawyer Me Rodrigue Dadje told newsmen.
“I am ashamed of Ivorian justice,” he said, adding that they would appeal the sentence. “We showed that impunity in Ivory Coast must not continue,” said state prosecutor Soungalo Coulibaly.
Laurent Gbagbo’s son Michel, a French-born dual national from a previous marriage, was also sentenced to five years in prison for his role in the violence

Blurred Lines: Court Orders Thicke to Pay Gaye's Family $7.4 million

A jury in the United States has ruled that the writers of Blurred Lines - one of the best-selling singles of all time - copied a Marvin Gaye track BBC reports.
Jurors in Los Angeles decided that the 2013 single by Pharrell Williams and Robin Thicke breached the copyright of Gaye's 1977 hit Got To Give It Up.
The family of the late soul singer has been awarded $7.3m (£4.8m) in damages.
Thicke and Williams denied copying the hit, and their lawyer said the ruling set a "horrible precedent". Meanwhile, the Gaye family's lawyer told Rolling Stone he wanted to stop the sales of Blurred Lines.

Soyinka Accuses Presidency Of Using Vulgar Language At Campaigns

Nobel laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka has condemned what he described as crudity and vulgar abuse of language that has dominated the electioneering campaigns in the country and blamed the presidency as the major culprit. The vanguard reports.
rofessor Soyinka, who spoke yesterday in Lagos at the public presentation of a book titled “Modern and Tradition Elite in the Politics of Lagos” written by Ambassador Patrick Dele Cole also dismissed former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s book, “My Watch”, as “three tonnes of doctored and self-serving narratives”, concluding that, “a little learning is a dangerous thing.”
According to Professor Soyinka, what the current political actors have done is to take Nigeria to “hitherto imaginable low in the art of public persuasion which – we have a right to imagine – forms the foundation of political life.”

Police Corporal Shoots And Kills Suprintendent Of Police

When he was leaving the shores of  the Southern part of Nigeria to the Bauchi State Police Command  on transfer, Chris Eza, a Superintendent of Police, obviously had no premonition that death, especially a tragic one, was lurking around the corner.
met-pixThe reason for this was not far to seek. Here was a young man who had enjoyed a meteoric rise which had propelled him to the top of his career in spite of the fact that he had spent just 10 years working with  the Nigeria Police  Force.
Power of influence
Indeed, SP Eza had everything going well for him when compared with his colleagues. Apart from that, he had a way with him, a certain charm that drew persons of class and distinction to him, thus availing him a power of influence that enabled him to have his way with ease.
Unfortunately for the Police officer, his success in this regard was rudely cut short, no thanks to his untimely death on February 25, 2015. Vanguard Metro gathered that on that fateful day of the incident, SP Eza had gone out to get food at an eatery along Ahmadu Bello Way around 9pm when he saw some police men on patrol. On observation, he found out that one of them was not properly dressed and immediately reprimanded him. The cop, a corporal, did not take kindly to this and grumbled in protest.

Real Madrid Through to Fift Consecutive Champions League Quarter Finals

Real Madrid survived a real scare to qualify for their fifth successive Champions League quarter-final despite conceding four away goals to an impressive Schalke. According to BBC Sports.
The holders were hanging on in the final few seconds as Schalke were just one goal away from producing one of the competition's biggest shocks after winning the second leg.
Trailing 2-0 after the first leg, Schalke twice led - through Christian Fuchs and ex-Real striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar - but Cristiano Ronaldo levelled each time with a header.
Karim Benzema gave the hosts the advantage on the night after the break but goals from Leroy Sane and Huntelaar saw a below-par Real endure a nervous finale in a thrilling encounter.
World Player of the Year Ronaldo became the Champions League's record scorer but, for once, the Portuguese was not the story as Bundesliga side Schalke threatened what was almost the unthinkable

Another Day Another Fatal Police Shooting In The US

An officer, responding to reports of a suspicious person, shot and killed an unarmed man who was running around in a metro Atlanta apartment complex naked.
The officer fired two shots when the man charged at him, said Cedric Alexander, the public safety director of DeKalb County.
But given that the man was not carrying a weapon, the police department immediately turned over the case to the Georgia Bureau of Investigations for an independent probe.
"What I have requested here [is] a result of what's going on currently across this country as it relates to police shootings," Alexander told reporters.
The officer was white; the deceased man was African-American, Alexander said.

AMVCA All Glamour No Substance - Charles Novia

Charles Novia gives an interesting review of the just concluded AMVCA. Lengthy but interesting read.

At 21:52 pm CAT, when IK Osakioduwa and Vimbai, hosts of the 2015 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards, had signed off from the show and brought in P Square, I was left scratching my head a bit as I walked out slowly out of the hall with some of the invited guests.
I was puzzled. There was something about this year’s AMVCA which lacked the punch the last two editions had. I couldn’t place my finger on it and it kept nagging me all night as I played the event over and over in my mind.
You see, I have attended lots of high-profile events and the AMVCA is one I always
look forward to attending, not just as a filmmaker but also as a reviewer and this year’s was no exception. And the chaps at MNET have told me a number of times that my annual reviews are read sometimes in post-event meetings and no matter how scathing the reviews might be in some areas, they good-naturedly take the corrections and plan to plug loopholes for the next edition.

Open Letter to Patience Jonathan

Dear Dame Patience Faka Jonathan: I hope all is well with you and your family? Let me begin by apologising for conveying this message to you through this medium. If it were possible, I would have preferred to converse with you directly to obviate the public backlash that may likely be occasioned by this open letter.
However, I just had to perish the thought of communicating my concerns to you 'one on one' owing to the unbeatable protocol associated with you and the countless combat ready armed security officers that follow you all the time except maybe when you are passing feces or attending to your conjugal obligations. That is if you still have time for that given your deep involvement in state affairs. Let me also apologise for the frequent use of the pronoun 'I' in this letter. It is not indicative of ego or self - glorification but unavoidable in view of the very nature of this piece.

I Want To Succeed Elechi Because I’ve Invested And It Is My Turn To Chop” -Umahi

by Segun Odeleye-Abakaliki

The deputy governor of Ebonyi state, Dave Umahi, was not the preferred candidate of the outgoing governor, Martin Elechi, to succeed him as governor. Elechi wanted former health minister, Onyebuchi Chukwu.

However it was Umahi who got the ticket by a series of political alignments with influencers in the state who felt sidelined by the governor and had an ally in the PDP national leadership.

Now, Umahi is the PDP candidate, while the governor has thrown his weight behind the Labour Party candidate, Edward Nkwegu.

What If Penises Were Detachable

By Naijasinglegirl

Think about it.
You could pee out of a moving vehicle. You could leave it at home if you are one of those that have erections at inappropriate places. E.g church. That hot chorister? Sounds familiar?
You could leave it at home when you are going to places like computer village. “My brocus oh! My brocus.” Abi you’ve not heard of one of those penis snatching stories?
You could detach it to avoid ‘killer kicks’ when you are about to get into a fight.
Guys who want to stay celibate could deposit their penis in a fixed bank account.
Chronic masturbators who are in need of redemption could give their penis to their pastor for safe keeping.

Mistaken Identity - Girl Burnt to Death by Angry Mob Not a Suicide Bomber

The discovery that the suspected female suicide bomber lynched by irate mob at the popular Muda Lawal market in Bauchi metropolis on Sunday, March 1, was, after all, not a terrorist, has left tears and sorrow in its wake.
It was a case of mistaken identity, it has been discovered, even as the victim now lies dead in the morgue after she was subjected to an agonizing death.
The fear that many innocent people can become victims of jungle justice is rife in a state like Bauchi where the fear of Boko Haram is the beginning of wisdom.
Now, questions are being asked about the circumstances that led to the death of the innocent woman erroneously tagged a Boko Haram insurgent at the Muda Lawa market.

Emwazi’s father, who moved his family to the UK more than 20 years ago, told Kuwait's Al-Qabas newspaper that “false rumours” were circulating.

US Envoy Survives Knife Attack In South Korea

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — A knife attack Thursday that injured the U.S. ambassador to South Korea is the latest act of political violence in a deeply divided country where some protesters portray their causes as matters of life and death.

The slashing of Ambassador Mark Lippert's face and arm was an extreme example, but America infuriates some leftist South Koreans because of its role in Korea's turbulent modern history.

Why I Don't Wear Panties - Ghanian Actress

Due to the kind of clothes she likes to wear and is comfortable in, Baby Blanche has revealed in an interview with Showbiz that she hardly wears panties when she’s going out.

“I love all kinds of lingerie that make a woman feminine because I’m a woman, but I hardly wear panties. This is not because I don’t want to wear them but because the clothes I love to wear wouldn’t permit me to,” she told Showbiz
